Scholarship

Each year, SWEA Minnesota awards a scholarship, but in 2025 a donation was instead given to Sjölunden Language Camp.

When a scholarship is available, anyone between the age of 12 and 100 is eligible to apply. The applicant should live in Minnesota and plan to study the Swedish language or another subject relevant to Sweden, such as culture, history or literature. The project’s outcome is to be presented in a written report within three months of completion of the studies, and the studies should be completed within 12 months of the scholarship award date. Presentation of the report will take place at one of SWEAs monthly meetings the following year and preferably in person.

To apply, submit an essay (at least 300 words) with information about yourself, your project, and what you plan to accomplish with the scholarship funds. Please include your name, age, address, phone number, e-mail and nationality. Members of SWEA Minnesota and their relatives are not eligible for this scholarship.

The last date to apply for the SWEA Minnesota Scholarship is May 1. The scholarship is generally awarded in June. All applicants will are notified of the outcome.
